Dancing Raisins and Rainbow Skittles

November 27, 2023

We had a blast during Science Week. It was so much fun becoming scientists for the week and trying different experiments everyday. First, we experimented with raisins. We learned about density and learned why the raisins sink in normal water and ‘dance’ in fizzy water. It was very exciting seeing the raisins move up and down and perform a little ‘dance’.

Next, we made rainbows using a very yummy treat…skittles! We arranged the skittles onto plastic plates in a circle (we even got to eat the leftovers!!). Very carefully, we poured warm water into the middle of the plate. We learned about how the sugar coating on the skittles dissolves and then we slowly watched the rainbow appear. It was truly magical.
